Advanced Music Recommendations
Deep search for new artists: load up to 500 top artists from your Last.fm profile in one click, or build the list by hand — the service finds similar artists and shows why each one is recommended.
How the recommendations are built
The starting point is a weighted list of your favorite artists. Last.fm lets you build it in one click: the service loads up to 500 of your top artists — all-time, last year, and last month — and the more you play an artist, the more they influence the result. But Last.fm is optional: you can build or edit the list by hand — add artists, change weights, remove noise — and set up any custom search you like.
For every artist on the list the service fetches similar artists from Last.fm and merges all scores into one weighted ranking. The recommendations are transparent: next to every candidate you can see which of your favorites pushed it up the list, and by how much. It is not a black box — it is a selection you can inspect and tune.
The result is a set of new artists similar to your taste as a whole, not to a single band. Anything that does not interest you can be hidden — it will never show up in the results again.
